Below are the courses taken during the Summer 2021 semester. Along with the course number and title, you will find a brief description of the information covered through the semester.
CEP 800 - Learning in School and other Settings
Instructor(s): Ron Houtman and Chris Sloan
Grade: 4.0 |
This course introduced us to the foundational psychological perspectives for understanding learning in school and other settings. We focused on behaviorism, multiple types of cognitivism, and socio-cultural perspectives. Then, using these theories and others, we sought to understand better and explain what learning truly is. Finally, through seeking a more thorough understanding of the different approaches to learning, the multitude of factors that hinder and facilitate learning, and the differences based on each experience, we worked to craft a personal theory of what learning is and how it occurs.

TE 842 - Elementary Reading Assessment and Instruction
Instructor(s): Laura Tortotelli
Grade: 4.0 |
In this course, we investigated the characteristics of practical reading assessment and instruction. Through different synchronous and asynchronous discussions, we worked to form an understanding of different instructional methods to improve our practices in literacy instruction and used a book study format to investigate a specific area of literacy in a small group setting.

In this course, we explored the concept of a "Learning Society." First, we were exposed to various theories and beliefs about learning through different readings, videos, and listening assignments.
